How to Beat the Back to School Blues

At Camp NAC, we agree that summer is by far the best season of them all. We were lucky enough to get to extend our Camp NAC summer an extra week when we offered School’s Out Camp days from August 29-September 2. Last week, many of our campers headed back to school for a brand new school year, complete with new teachers, books and homework. While our camp leadership team works year-round, planning for next summer, we know that our campers wish they could hurry up the clock to when the final bell rings. We came up with a few ways you can beat the back to school blues until the time to return to the best camp in Bucks County returns.

  1. Play Camp Games: Our team has done a few different blogs on fun camp games that our campers can play at home. While nothing is as fun as playing our awesome games at camp with all your favorite summer friends and counselors, you can still take some of your favorite games to play at home with siblings or friends. Check out our top picks for at-home games here, here and here! Let us know what your favorite camp games to play at home are.
  2. School’s Out Camp: Throughout the school year, Camp NAC offers a variety of camp dates for when our campers are off from school. Some dates include election day, Thanksgiving break, holiday break, spring break and even more! Getting a little taste of the fun to come this summer is sometimes the perfect way to beat your school year blues. School’s Out Camps have fun themes, similar to Camp NAC specialty camps. 3. Fun Camp Crafts: Similar to our fun list of camp games that campers can play at home, we also have a bunch of camp crafts that are fun and easy to make. Crafts are a perfect thing to keep campers busy on rainy days or do outside for fun! We have put together a few step by step blog posts showing you exactly how to create cool crafts like launching rockets, a winter sled and hot cocoa cup, and a magical wizards hat! Try them on your own when your camper is missing Camp NAC.
  4. Camp Sleepovers: All campers know that our summer sleepovers are so much fun. Who wouldn’t love staying the night at the NAC, playing fun games and swimming? Did you know that Camp NAC also hosts a fall and spring sleepover during the school year? If your camper is having back to school blues, these Friday night sleepovers can be the perfect remedy. Campers’ favorite counselors come back to lead fun games and swim in the indoor pool. Look out for fun themes too!

We all know that heading back to school can put a damper on the end of summer. What else does your camper do to keep the summer camp fun going all year round?
