Top 10 Moments of Summer 2016

Summer 2016 was one of the best in Camp NAC history! Although we are sad to see another great summer come to an end, we could not be happier with the memories our counselors and campers were left with. It took our leadership team a while to narrow down our favorite memories to just 10, but we are excited to share our list. Did your favorite things at Camp NAC make the list?

  1. Color Run: Aqua Art campers had a ton of fun participating in Camp NAC’s first ever Color Run! Campers spent their week adding their artistic flair to their favorite activities. Campers lined up in the outside fields at the starting line, then sprinted through a rainbow of colored powder paint. What a fun way to express our creativity!
  2. Camp Sleepovers: This summer, Camp NAC had two awesome sleepovers. Each summer, our campers are invited to stay the night and extend the fun with their favorite Camp NAC friends & counselors. At our first sleepover, campers spent time swimming in the NAC outdoor pool complex and playing fun games and activities all night long. The second sleepover was Sports & Splash themed, and campers switched between playing on the inflatable Aqua Fun Run in the indoor pool and playing sports games. Overall, it was a great time had by all!
  3. Color Games: Color Games this year was another hit with our NACster and teen campers! All week long, campers and counselors participated in fun Blue vs. Red competitions to see which team would come out on top. All week long, points were up for grabs, whether it was in sports competitions, pie eating or the big counselor dance at the end of the week.
  4. Miss Kelsey’s Last Day: Although we were sad to see her go, Camp NAC Director Miss Kelsey’s last day included a ton of fun. To celebrate and thank her for her past 10 years at Camp NAC, Miss Amanda and the camp managers planned a surprise water balloon prank, and got the whole camp in on it! Campers surprised Miss Kelsey with a water balloon fight of her versus the whole camp! Such a fun way to say goodbye.
  5. Superhero Camp Scavenger Hunt: Superheroes unite! Our half day superhero campers learned how to save the world during this fun week of camp. On Friday, campers had to put their superpowers to the test when Miss Katherine was kidnapped by the Joker! Campers embarked on a super scavenger hunt, where they sought out help from the most popular superheroes, like Batman, Superman, Iron Man and more! In the end, these super campers caught the Joker and rescued Miss Katherine!
  6. Paint Slip N Slide: Campers got messy during Aqua Art camp’s paint slip n’ slide. Campers showed off their artistic side by running through a mixture of paint and soapy water. It was fun to get messy, but also a great way to cool off from the summer heat.
  7. Caking Miss Katlin: At the annual End of Summer Party, the Camp NAC leadership team welcomed Miss Katlin as the new Camp NAC director with a fun tradition. As she cut the cake for guests and campers, executive youth director, Amanda Brown and a few of the camp managers pushed a slice into Miss Katlin’s face! All of the campers and counselors, including Miss Katlin, thought it was a funny joke and are looking forward to more fun memories with Miss Katlin as director.
  8. Please Touch Museum Field Trip: This was one of the new field trips, introduced for Camp NACster this summer. With the Democratic National Convention going on, we were worried the field trip wouldn’t work, but it ended up being a great time for all the campers and counselors. This museum promotes learning about all different subjects through interactive play, encouraging guests to touch and feel and play in the different exhibits.
  9. NACtive Gaming: This new specialty camp was a huge hit with our video game loving campers. Campers spent the week diving into imaginative play, becoming immersed in real life versions of their favorite video games. One of the coolest activities planned for that week was the life size Pacman course. Campers took turns being ghosts and pacman, navigating their way around the course to avoid getting tagged. Such a fun way to use our imaginations!
  10. LIT Cook-off: The new leader in training program offered a brand new week, focusing on improving our teens’ cooking skills. During the week, LITs created a ton of different dishes to build up their culinary knowledge. During the week, LITs split up into teams and created their own pancakes with different fillings and toppings. Miss Amanda and Youth Programs Director, Cara Clark, judged the pancakes to determine a winner in the contest. It was a great week.
