As you know, our priority is always the health and safety of all campers. As such, we will be regularly updating this page to inform you of our practices and policies regarding the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). We have created a task force that collaborates on a daily basis and partners with local, state, national, and international agencies to remain informed and proactive as new information develops. Please feel free to email us directly at info@campnac.com with any other questions or concerns that you have.
While some summer camps were forced to close due to Covid-19, the Newtown Athletic Club’s (NAC) summer camp program, Camp NAC, successfully provided a memorable summer experience for hundreds of children in the Bucks County area.
To maintain the top hygiene, safety and physical distancing practices, Camp NAC aligned their health and safety standards with guidance from Center for Disease Control (CDC), World Health Organization (WHO), and local government. By doing so, we were successfully able to provide a safe, covid-free environment for our campers from early June through September. Learn more>>
Safety at Camp
We will no longer be holding in person orientations. A webinar will be sent to you via email and we will send an RSVP link to register.
Parents will be responsible for taking their child’s temperature each day before camp. Staff will ask what their temperature is upon arrival in the morning and record it for our records.
- A temperature of 100.4 or higher is deemed unsafe to send to camp. Please contact us at 215-944-8860, if you are not sending your child from camp today and our nurse will contact you in regard to our new return policy.
- All staff’s temperature will be taken each day and recorded by the nurse prior to the start of camp.
- All staff must wear a mask each day during camp at all times.
- Each staff member will have their own sanitation supplies with them to use throughout the day.
Upon arrival, campers will be assigned to their own cubby to put their belongings for the week. Their group name will be labeled on it.
Campers ages 3-5 will be in groups of 6 campers to 1 counselor. Campers ages 6+ will be in groups of 8 campers and 1 counselor. Additional management staff will be walking around at all times to make sure new cleaning and sanitation protocol are followed.
Camp groups will be assigned the week before and parents will be notified who their camper’s counselor for the week will be. Campers that are enrolled will be grouped by age. Campers that are with us for the duration of the summer will be grouped together to ensure they are exposed to a limited number of children.
- Camp NAC will be providing lunch as an additional option for each camper.
- If you do not purchase our lunch program, campers should bring a non-perishable NUT-FREE lunch and a beverage to camp daily. Please pack a healthy, low sugar and balanced meal, no soda please! Do not send food or drinks in glass containers.
- We will have 1 snack period daily during regular camp times. If a child forgets their snack for the day, we will provide one and charge your account $1 per snack given.
Outdoor play is an important part of our daily camp schedule. Parents are asked to dress their children appropriately for the weather conditions. A light sweater or jacket may be needed in the mornings. During periods of extreme heat, the camp staff will scale down the physical camp activities.
Indoor facilities will be utilized if necessary due to inclement weather however the majority of the child’s day will be spent outside.
Parents or legal guardians will be responsible for applying the first layer of sunscreen prior to arrival at camp. Camp staff will reapply sunscreen once during the day unless instructed otherwise. Parents or Guardians are responsible for providing enough sunscreen for the entire day. Please, one bottle per camper, with their name on it.
- Spray on sunscreen is the only type of sunscreen permitted on campus. For campers who are fair skinned and tend to burn easily we recommend an extra tee-shirt brought to wear in the water for extra protection. Hats are also recommended.
