Why Camp NAC Counselors are the Best!
With summer camp only a few short weeks away and campers gearing up for an awesome summer, we have welcomed back some of our awesome counselors and welcomed some new staff members too. At Camp NAC our goal is to provide the best summer camp experience possible and leave the campers excited about future camps. To ensure we provide the best experience possible at Camp NAC, our counselors go through extensive training to prepare them for the summer. Aside from training, our staff has several other qualifications to secure their spot at Camp NAC which include:
- First Aid, AED, and CPR certified
- Minimum of working in a child care field
- All program managers have or are pursuing degrees in education
- All specialty instructors have over 6 years of experience in their field
- Management team in CPI certified
As we hope you can see, our Camp NAC staff is not only excited about working with your camper this summer, but also qualified to provide a safe and fun experience at Camp NAC.
Along with training and qualifications, we give out tips to our first time counselors to use as an effective tool while working with campers:
- Get to Know Each Camper Individually – This helps to personally connect with the campers and make them feel “a part of.”
- Establish Routines – Getting the campers into a routine early can help transitions from one activity to another run smoothly.
- Keep It Simple – Try giving campers one task to do at a time. If they are told too many things to do at once, nothing could get done!
- Show Patience and Play Along- If a camper is not listening to a direction, exercise some patience. Show an interest in whatever is distracting the camper, than re-direct them again to the task.
