Why Camp NAC Campers Make Great Leaders!
Here at Camp NAC we take extreme pride in the fact that every single day we are helping children grow and develop into the fantastic leaders that they will become one day. Most summer camps simply provide the campers with a fun time, but we provide them with learning experiences that will mold them into better people. Some might read that and automatically ask, how is that? There are 5 main reasons why Camp NAC campers make great leaders:
1. Our programs are designed to provide campers with all the skills they need to succeed. These activities range from swimming to arts and crafts, but they ALL make campers do what all great leaders must do: take a step out of their comfort zone. This allows them to experience and try different things which is crucial in keeping them well rounded, all while making sure they do what’s most important, have FUN.
2. Our camps provide campers with a social environment that allows them to interact with the other campers in a positive way, forming friendships and learning to work together with their fellow campers.
3. We also take serious pride in being able to provide campers with a safe environment in which they feel comfortable to try new things. Many of our young campers are not yet able to swim, but with close lifeguard supervision we allow them to attempt a swim test to see if they are able to swim without a swim belt yet. Attempting to accomplish something they have never done before is a great step on the path to becoming a leader.
4. When selecting our counselors, we search for qualities that accurately reflect that of a great leader. At Camp NAC we stand behind our motto of “Making Summer Better”, and to do so we make sure our counselors have the skills necessary to help your camper become a leader, just like the counselors themselves.
5. Each day, every group has a period we call “Kid’s Choice”. During one of our activity periods, our counselors let their campers come together as a group and collectively decide on an activity to play. This allows our campers to step up as leaders and also come together as a group to make a decision.
